So what exactly is

ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching is life coaching that is specifically designed for,

and relevant to,

how ADHD brains think and process information.

~

As your ADHD life coach, I will coach you through an ADHD lens.  This means I will explain to you, when necessary, about characteristics of ADHD (or other neurodivergences), and about how those characteristics could be affecting your life.

Whether you are a client who looks to simply understand your ADHD brain and yourself better, or whether you are a client who struggles daily against the current of life, ADHD coaching can make a positive difference both in your life and in the lives of those around you.

During sessions, I will ask you powerful questions to help you discover your path forward.  And I will listen to you --  because the answers are all there, inside of you. Sometimes all we need is the time, the space, and the quiet, to look inside ourselves and find our truths.

~

On this journey, you will discover your own personal strengths, and you will learn to intentionally use those strengths for your own positive growth and change.

~

As your ADHD coach, I will be a shoulder to lean on,

and a person who will walk by your side

throughout your coaching journey.

~

I will be a mirror to reflect you and someone who will see you for the wonderful person you are!  And I will remind you of your wonderfulness, even if, sometimes, you may not see it or remember it yourself.

Come coach with me!  I will support you on this personal-growth journey to help you uncover who you really are and what you really want.  And at the same time,  you can gain more self-awareness, focus, direction, resilience, and peace of mind.

I so look forward to meeting you and working with you!

A little more information about coaching

People often ask how coaching differs from therapy.  There are some clear distinctions:

Therapists are trained to diagnose and treat mental health conditions. Life coaches absolutely may not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

And while therapy can and sometimes does include some aspects of coaching, coaching may not include therapy.

Life coaching is future-focused, and usually involves identifying a struggle, a problem, or a topic to work on.  Then the client sets goals, plans actions, and works to achieve desired results.

ADHD coaching uses life coaching methods, and then adds the vital aspect of coaching through the lens of ADHD.

This allows clients to work with their brains, instead of against them, allowing them to better understand themselves so they can move forward in life.

A standard recommendation is that clients commit to at least 12 sessions -- which usually works out to three months, of ADHD coaching in order to begin to see real change and shifts in thinking, decisions and actions; and of course many opt to continue with coaching for many months beyond that.

My Neurodivergent clients have been:

Entrepreneurs; actors; artists; College, Master's, and PhD Students; teachers; and other humans who are struggling to stay afloat. I have also coached those who simply want to better understand their neurodivergent or otherwise challenged brains, and make their lives better.

The sad truth is that many people with ADHD or other neurodivergences including autism, sensory processing disorder, auditory processing disorder, and other neurological difficulties (or those not diagnosed with anything, but who have  executive function struggles) often go through life feeling different, or even feeling broken; many have years of regret, and many also often carry with them a huge sense of failure.

My philosophy

I believe the best coaching is coaching that helps clients understand themselves –  it is coaching that gives clients the space and the time to pause in their busy lives, to think, and to process.

My coaching helps clients uncover and activate their innate character strengthseven when they might not believe they have very many and then use those strengths to compassionately create meaningful life changes.

My coaching style and beliefs

When we use the tools and when we trust the coaching process, we allow ourselves to uncover our strengths, and we give ourselves the necessary time for self-reflection, introspection, and self-compassion. And then we are able to identify and consciously use our strengths to enhance our lives.

Our strengths, even though we might not be well-acquainted with them yet, are the roots of who we are And we need those strengths in the same way that a tree needs its roots.  Roots nourish a tree the way our strengths nourish our emotional self.

Our strengths ground us. They give us stability.  And when our strengths are provided the right soil and nourishment -- which is what ADHD coaching provides -- we are able to create a necessary and stable base for ourselves.

Then, when we have that stable base, we can stand tall, so we can reach outward and upward, like the trunk and branches of a strong tree, and we can live our livesmore healthfully.

When we work on our growth, our self-understanding, and our self-compassion; and as we  begin making the changes we want, we become emotionally stronger and more supple, viable, rooted, successful and happy.

And then, ultimately,

we can fulfill our dreams.
